6th IASSIDD Europe Hybrid Congress
Frequently Asked Questions about the hybrid format of the 6th IASSIDD Europe Congress, held in Amsterdam from 6 to 8 July 2021 under the theme "Value Diversity."
What is a hybrid congress?
A hybrid congress combines a physical venue with a live online experience. Presenters and delegates in the Amsterdam venue participated alongside virtual attendees who joined remotely, with sessions streamed and made interactive so that both audiences could follow the programme together.
Why was a hybrid format used?
The decision reflected the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021. Holding the congress in a hybrid way allowed researchers, professionals, and advocates in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities to take part safely, whether in Amsterdam or from elsewhere.
Health and safety
The physical component took place in a controlled studio venue in Amsterdam, with measures informed by the Radisson hotels health and safety protocol and current Dutch government guidance on coronavirus. Online participants followed sessions remotely without on-site requirements.
